Three years later, JW gets out of prison, but soon finds himself between the contending parties of … Joel K. only has a handful of scenes, which is the primary weakness in an otherwise nicely done film. Every trace leads him to the world of organized crime in Stockholm.
The plot themes are only loosely connected to those of the earlier movies; the decision to turn killer Jorge into a romantic hero is a surprising one.
In any case, the discerning viewer doesn't need to watch the trilogy to its end.
I do want to read the books on which these films are based. Johan Falk's stepdaughter's biological father seems serious about getting to know Nina, but his construction company is in debt to the Russian mafia "Karayan".

Matias Varela and Joel Kinnaman reprise their roles as career criminal Jorge and business student turned convict JW, respectively, alongside returning cast … And so concludes a Scandinavian crime thriller along the lines of other triptychs like Department Q and Pusher. The original 'Easy Money' was an above-average thriller about an ordinary guy who gets involved with gangsters; the sequel basically re-hashed the same plot, but more cheesily.

The first two films (while a tad generic, in places) were entertaining and well-executed with some strong performances and impressive set-pieces.
The Easy Money trilogy is one of them.
I thought that it would be a straight flick about the mob but it wasn't.

Their plans to move abroad lay on the kitchen table, when they suddenly hear someone trying to break into the apartment and five masked men are trying to enter. Overall, this has a "straight to video" feel, and leaves the strong impression that the film-makers didn't know how to make a proper movie, couldn't afford it, or just couldn't be bothered. Sliders.
