You're better off doing other trails.
One thing really cool about this trail is that the remnants of the mid-1910 tramway is evident throughout the entire trail, even past it's official end. If you enter the loop from the east side, it is a paved road going passing the Indian's homes. There were plenty gators, however. We did the Orange Trail, to Yellow back to Blue and ended on Orange back to the parking lot. Day hiking options are limited to out-and-back wades from the trailheads. Great trail !

Enough water is a necessity. The northbound trailhead is accessed from the westbound lane, but even if you are traveling east you can still exit and take an access road under the Interstate that leads to the other side. It's a stunning representation of wild south Florida everglades marshlands and strands and I cant wait to go back. Beautiful trail. but aside from that a ton of giant flies and grasshoppers walking across instead of jumping. Great to practice riding your mountain bike.I'm so glad I finally got around to hiking this trail.
